I guess you have all heard by now (April 2010), Tracy has stopped touring and is off the road of performing. He as spoke to his local newspaper about this decision. I have a copy and I will scan it and put it on here for you all to read. This is difficult for all of us to think about. I know that we all wish he and his family well. We also hope that he will come back to us again in the future and sing for us. Please check back, as I will try to get that posted soon.
| TRACY BYRD, MARK CHESNUTT & ZONA JONES
ANNOUNCE BEAUMONT BOYS BASH... November 8th, 2007 |
Southeast
Texas has long been known for being home to some of the nation’s
leading country music artists. But what is even better than that
is when these artists unite with the express purpose of “Making a
Difference at Home.”Such was the case Wednesday when Beaumont’s own Tracy Byrd, Mark Chesnutt and Zona Jones joined forces to host a special breakfast for the business community to outline events and solicit sponsorships for The Beaumont Boys Bash Charity Weekend to be held April 25 through 27, 2008. Tracy Byrd was the first to speak highlighting some of the festivities that will be involved in the weekend including Mark Chesnutt’s Wild Game Dinner and Casino Night at the Ford Park Arena on Friday evening, Tracy Byrd’s Big Bass Tournament on Saturday on Lake San Rayburn, a special concert by the three Beaumont Boys along with a yet-to-be-announced Headlining Act on Saturday evening at Ford Park Pavilion and a Zona Jones Golf Tournament on Sunday at Bayou Din Golf Club. Mark Chesnutt announced that 80% of the proceeds of the event will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network in Beaumont to remodel the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth’s hospital. Chesnutt explained that the remaining 20% of the proceeds will be divided equally to benefit Netcasters Youth Ministries, The Garth House and Boys & Girls Haven. Emily Sonier from Children’s Miracle Network provided insight into the extensive need and scope of the Neo-Natal remodeling project and representatives from each of the other charitable organizations were on hand to express their appreciation. Zona Jones was the last of the trio to speak and appealed to the attendees for support. “To be successful, an undertaking of this magnitude has got to be a team effort. To really make a difference, we need the support of the entire community” Jones said. According to Jones, this kind of support can come in the way of financial support, in-kind donations for prizes, volunteer support and by just getting on the band wagon to help spread the word. Jones specifically noted the need for an overall sponsor for the weekend as well as several event-specific sponsors. Sponsorship packages were distributed with specific information on a broad scope of opportunities available. |

Dear Byrdwatchers, It's that time of year again when we are thankful for all our blessings and the Byrdwatchers are definitely one of mine! Thank you for all your continued love and support over the years! I hope you are almost done with your holiday shopping - I've got just a few more things to get and I'll be finished. The best thing about Christmas is getting to see it through the eyes of my children - there is nothing more precious! Logan is wanting a Play Station 3 and Jared has asked for a remote controlled dinosaur. Evee is a totally different story. She seems to have skipped the Barbie stage and has gone straight to Victoria's Secret clothes and Sephora make-up. They grow up so fast these days! I hope you will be spending Christmas with loved ones and will have time to enjoy the holidays! Thanks again for your love and support - I appreciate you so much and look forward to seeing you on the road in '07! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Love, TByrd

Lately I have read many outstanding reviews from Tracy latest collection, Different Things. On Tracy's site at www.tracybyrd.com Sharon has posted many of the articles. CMT, GAC and several others have been impressed with Tracy's selection of songs and style. It is really exciting that he has also had many appearances on TV this month promoting his new CD, such as in GAC Nights with Susanne Alexander, GAC's Top 20 Countdown with Nan Kelley and even outstanding live footage and interviews on CMT.com's Sessions. Go take a look at that, it's amazing. Great music! They should make a DVD from that, they would make a fortune! Great stuff!
I too believe that "Different Things" is Tracy's best work so far in his wonderful career. It was sure heartwarming to hear him say that he picked each and every song based on how it moved him and made him feel. I believe this, because hearing him sing these songs, you can hear and feel the emotion in all the songs. They are amazing! He has really given us a special cd this time around. Thank you Tracy for the wonderful music. You are amazing as well. We all truly appreciate you!!! Selina November 2006
Here is an awesome CD review from Cheryl Harvey Hill at Country Stars Online. She has given me permission to post this great article for you all to read. Hope you enjoy it! Selina

TRACY BYRD
And it’s not surprising that Byrd remains true to his traditional country sensibilities associated with those three legends. Through eight studio albums and two greatest hits collections, Byrd has always been on the country side of the recent country-pop divide in the genre. “It’s changed several times,” Byrd said of the country music landscape since his self-titled debut album was released in 1993. “The music is a lot more diverse. You have Rascal Flatts -- that’s a great band, but they could also be a Top 40 band. Keith Urban could be a rock star. When I came into it, there wasn’t any of that going on. It’s been super-healthy for the format. (Traditional) country is a format within a format.” Byrd was one of many young, fresh-faced hat acts to ride the 1990’s wave of country popularity spurred by Garth Brooks. Depending on whether you ask a line dancer or a sentimental spouse, the mid 1990’s saw two signature songs for him -- two more than most artists ever see. “I want to be remembered for “Keeper of the Stars” or something like “Watermelon Crawl,” Byrd said. “Years from now, when people hear those songs I hope it takes them back in their lives to their wedding day or when they were at a party.” When the genre veered dramatically towards pop, Byrd didn’t continue the consistancy of radio success in the late 1990’s, save for the cliché-driven, tongue-in-cheek “I’m From The Country” in 1998. Crossing over may have been an option, but not a viable one. “We took a couple of pop songs in the studio and it felt and sounded wrong,” Byrd said. “I’m a country singer -- it’s what I do best. That’s what’s in my heart and soul.” Like many of his hot new country contemporary peers, Byrd enters a new phase in his career as he approaches 40. The veteran entertainer has started an independent recording label, Blind Mule Records. It’s somewhat of a big departure after recording for Nashville giants MCA and RCA throughout his career, but it gives Byrd creative reign where the focus is on quality music instead of just cranking out hit singles. Blind Mule -- in case you were wondering – was derived from an old country saying Byrd’s grandmother had – “a wink or a nod is the same to a blind mule.” The first single “Cheapest Motel” is currently on the airwaves, and the album DIFFERENT THINGS is due out on Sept. 26. “We didn’t dress it up too much -- it’s a raw record,” Byrd said. “We didn’t take too drastic of a departure from what we were doing. It’s pretty country in most of the tracks and then there’s a couple of tracks that rock a little bit.” The debut song off the album is hard-core country, even by Byrd’s traditional standards. Everything about the song from the key lyric -- “19 bucks and some Change, the cheapest motel in town cost him everything” -- to the theme and delivery of it. “I think with this independent label thing, we’ll see a lot of traditional country coming up,” Byrd said. “Traditional will always have a place on country radio and we’ll have a big spell like we did with George Strait and Randy Travis in the 1980’s.” Byrd is touring the Midwest and south this month, showcasing both the hits that established him as well as a large dose of his new material.
Byrd said when he played the Charlie Pruitt Country Music Show in Beaumount, Texas in 1987 “they had to pull me off stage because I loved (entertaining) so much.” If his new material is any indication, Byrd isn’t ready to leave the stage or the airwaves behind just yet. *Photo Credit: David McClister

Just announced January 19, 2006 Homecoming Weekend 2006 has been cancelled.
Tracy has announced on his website that he is is canceling Homecoming Weekend this year due to Hurricane Rita and the devastation that it has incurred. He feels that so many people have been financially strapped and it would be a bit much to ask them to donate more at this time. So he hopes that everyone understands his concerns and says that in 2007 there will be a big celebration.
Happy 39th Birthday Tracy!
This past Saturday Tracy celebrated his 39th Birthday. Sure hope it was a Happy one Tracy!
Tracy did it again! We won the Celebrity Cutting. This year he was teamed up with Rob Smetts and they did an awesome job. Here is the article that I have quoted from Tracy's official website on the event.
| TRACY BYRD DEFENDS HIS WINNING TITLE AT THE 10TH
ANNIVERSARY OF CELEBRITY CUTTING.... December 2nd, 2005 |
|
This past weekend (Friday, December 2), Country music star, TRACY
BYRD, and his cutting horse partner and 7 time Rodeo Clown of
the Year champion, Rob Smetts, won the 10th Annual Celebrity
Cutting event in Ft. Worth,
Texas. This star-studded event features highly
competitive celebrities riding the most athletic horses in the world to
raise money for cancer patients and National Cutting Horse Association
charities. The two celebrities had a combined score of 446 beating
out Tracy’s winning score
from last year when he partnered with American
Country Countdown legendary host, Bob Kingsley.
What exactly is cutting? Cutting has its origins in the Old West. The challenge is to select a single calf from the herd -- gently guide it into the center of the arena -- and then, with lightning fast starts and turns, prevent it from ducking past the horse and escaping back into the herd. Tracy declares, “I was paired up with a heck of a rider in Smetts and my horse was a real champ, too. We were awarded a buckle and beautiful bronze trophy of a cutting horse and steer that I’ll be real proud to display at home.” The folks that gathered at the Round Up Inn for the Celebrity Cutting after-party were treated to a first class show with Tracy, Travis Tritt and Tanya Tucker. Tracy shares, “We had a great show with Travis and Tanya jumping on stage and singing with us. Tanya did a song with her son playing guitar and then sang “Delta Dawn” with her daughter who did an awesome job. We had a blast!” |
Click on photo above to read the article in Road King Magazine about Tracy's favorite hunting trip with his Grandmother (NaNa). (Nov 2005)
Tracy is going to sing the National Anthem in Dallas at the Dallas Cowboys game. The Cowboys will be playing the Detriot Lions. Catch it on Sunday, November 20th at 12 noon central time. The game will be broadcast live from teh Texas Stadiun and shown on the FOX Network at noon central time. (Nov 2005)

TRACY BYRD’S WIFE DESCRIBES HURRICANE DAMAGE TO TEXAS HOME
The information below is From countrynation.com:
Byrd & Walker out of
Beaumont
With Hurricane Rita bearing down on them, Tracy Byrd and his family tried to
leave Beaumont, Texas, yesterday but got locked in a traffic jam and turned
around. They pulled out again this morning, headed for Dallas. Tracy and his
wife, Michelle, loaded up an Excursion with their kids, dogs and all the little
valuables they could grab.
Not only do the Byrds have a spread in Beaumont, the family also has a house on
Galveston Beach. Tracy canceled his show last night. No word on his date
tomorrow night in Maryland.
Clay Walker also packed up and headed to Dallas, but not before shipping his
prize horses far north of the storm's path. He, too, has a second home on
Galveston beach.
According to "Country music Across America's" Storme Warren, both
Tracy and Clay expect to lose their beach homes.
I know we all have been worried for our friends there in Beaumont and surrounding cities in Texas. It just seems so strange to watch the news and see information about Beaumont, Texas on there. We all are hoping and keeping you all in our prayers that everyone is safe and there won't be too much damage when you all return. Take care and know that all of your fans are thinking of you and your families!!! For the fans wondering about Mark Chesnutt, he and his family are safe with some friends in Dallas also. One of my friends spoke to one of his band members and we know they are safe.
Tracy made the cover of the new September 2005 issue of Texas Fish & Game. There is also a wonderful story of him inside. All about of course, his hunting and fishing days as a child and the wonderful person who inspired him to be in the outdoors, his grandmother, "Nana". The article also speaks of his outstanding musical career as well. Tracy we are so proud of you!
Just heard 8-30-05 that Tracy cancelled his Alaska shows due to a family emergency. The CMT website says that his wife had to have emergency surgery. Our thoughts and prayers are with Michelle, Tracy and their family. We wish you well Michelle.
Tracy announced to the audience at the Colusa show August 21, 2005 that James and Dan will be leaving the band next year to join their other group "Stone". They got a record deal with Sony. Stone is a Southern Rock group. Dan and James we all wish you the best and I will for sure come to see you.
Wow!
Now here's a fun show not to miss. Tracy is teaming up with Blake Shelton
and Andy Griggs to do some acoustic shows and they are calling themselves the
Rat Pack. Putting those 3 three together will be a fun show for
sure. Hey anyone attending a show, let us know how is it. We'd love
to hear the scoop! Here's what Sharon at the fan club had to say:
TRACY JOINS HIS BUDDIES ANDY GRIGGS & BLAKE SHELTON ON A VERY SPECIAL
TOUR.....
Tracy Byrd, Andy Griggs and Blake Shelton, make up todays new Country "Rat
Pack." They can each pack a venue and entertain their fans into a rowdy,
honky-tonk swoon. Each of them have their own distinct sound, their own
signature look and of course, their very own hit records. But, together,
Country’s Rat Pack is the guaranteed ticket for a great evening of music!
Tracy Byrd, Andy Griggs and Blake Shelton are Country’s "Rat Pack".
The show features three of today’s hottest male acts together, on one stage
simultaneously, with one band unplugged, for an acoustic show that will leave
fans stomping the floor and kicking up their heels for more.
Tracy along with his buddy Zona Jones was special guests of Mark Chesnutt tonight (April 13, 2005) in Houston, Texas for a special concert Mark was doing for St Judes, called St Judes Benefit show starring Mark Chesnutt and Friends. I got a call from my friend Shelli who was at the show. She said it was great and she even held up her phone and over the microphone I heard Tracy say "Hello Selina". I was so surprised to hear him say that! She said it was such great fun!
Tracy, Michelle and the kids are on Spring break. They are spending time here in California. San Diego to be exact. They are taking in all the sites that the children would love, Sea World, The Wild Animal Park, San Diego Zoo and of course Lego Land!! Sure hope the Byrd family is having a great time on their vacation.
Well have you heard? Tracy and Andy Griggs are teaming up and putting both of their fan club parties together at the Wild Horse Saloon. The parties will be on Wednesday June 8th at 6pm. Order your tickets now on the store section of Tracy's official site.
There's a new member to the band. His name is Craig Campbell from Vidallia Georgia. He plays the keyboard. He has just completed his 3rd show this weekend. Tracy commented that he is a fast learner. He was doing great for this being only his 3rd time out. Welcome to the band Craig. We all look forward to meeting you.
Hey all, Tracy announced that he has wrote a new song and that he hopes to be putting it on his next CD. He has started singing it in his shows. If you hear it let us know what you think. I'm sure it's wonderful!
Tiny Town will be released March 14 as a single. It sure would be great to see Tracy get another #1. Let's all request it and see if we can get it to the top of the charts!!!

Carol a friend from Beaumont called and told me that Tracy and Michelle had been on their local news talking about their new investment. So I looked up the Beaumont Enterprise and below is the actual article that was published about the event. Great news for them! Congratulations Tracy and Michelle!

| Byrds' new venue is Kitchen Koncepts | ||||||||
|
| BEAUMONT
- Country singer Tracy Byrd already has thrown his hat in the celebrity
cook ring with his own cookbook and line of seasonings, rubs and
marinades. Now,
he's also the co-owner of a local specialty kitchen store. On
Monday, Byrd and his wife, Michelle, bought Kitchen Koncepts, 4338
Dowlen Road. Purchase price was not disclosed. Michelle Byrd said that
while her husband is a co-owner of the business, she will be handling
the store's day-to-day operations. "Since we both love food and
love to cook, this is something that we always thought would be fun to
do," she said. In addition to being loyal customers of the store,
she said she and her husband are also good friends of the now previous
owners Marvin and Connie Dunnam. Byrd said the Dunnams are going to stay
on board for a while to show her the operation. "This is giving me
something else to do while Tracy's on the road," she said.
"But Tracy's not going to tour forever. This is a great local
investment for our future."
Today, Tracy Byrd is filming a segment for the Food Network's "Family Table." In addition to fishing and cooking Earl's Fish Stew from his cookbook "Eat Like A Byrd," the singer-songwriter will give a tour of Kitchen Koncepts. According to Melissa Miggo, Byrd's Nashville-based publicist, the Food Network's "Family Table" will air in November. Later that month, Byrd also will appear in a segment on "Emeril Live." Meanwhile, Marvin Dunnam said that he doesn't plan to retire. "I've got two grandkids to raise, I can't retire," he said. But other than that, Dunnam has not made any concrete plans. "We have nothing in mind," he said. "We'll maybe go into another business, maybe real estate or some other investments. "People think I'm either crazy or lying, but I really don't have any plans," he said. Tracy Byrd, who was born in Beaumont and grew up in Vidor, released his celebrity cookbook "Eat Like A Byrd" (Interactive Blvd., 208 pages, $17.99) in December 2003. In the book, Byrd wrote of his pride in having grown up in a small Texas town where cooking remains part of everyday life - which is why he recorded a tune called "Tiny Town" on his latest CD, "The Truth About Men." "Tiny Town" also is the name of Byrd's brand of marinades, rubs and seasonings. They include Sweet Southern Dijon Marinade, Rotisserie Garlic and Herb Marinade, Sweet and Tangy Marinade and Flame Roasted Pepper Marinade. Seasonings include Smokin' Cajun Potato Seasoning, Garlic Pepper Seasoning, Ultimate Seasoning, Mesquite Grill Seasoning and Flame-Kist Steak Seasoning. And of course, Byrd's cookbook and products are available at Kitchen Koncepts. A portion of the proceeds from cookbook and product sales go to one of Byrd's favorite charities, the Children's Miracle Network. Byrd's hits include "The Truth About Men," "Drinkin' Bone," "A Good Way To Get On My Bad Side," "Watermelon Crawl," "Lifestyles Of The Not So Rich And Famous," "Keeper Of The Stars," "Holdin' Heaven," and "Someone To Give My Love To." |

Well, the Cruise was a HUGE HIT!!! What a Wonderful time. We all saw some beautiful places, ate great food, met new friends, went to great parties and saw some awesome concerts by Aaron Lines, Jamie O'Neal, Neal McCoy, Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Lawrence and of course Tracy Byrd and his great band. Go take a look at the Country Cruise 2004 page . That was the Dream Trip of a life time!!
Tracy is not only a great singer but a great cook too. He has written a cookbook full of his and his wife Michelle's families recipes. He also has his own line of Spices, rubs and Marinades to go along with them. Keep checking your Supercenter Wal-Mart Stores and pick up some and get to cooking Byrd's way. It's gotta be good!!!
